It won’t come as much as a surprise, especially as more people own gaming consoles now, then when Metal Gear Solid first launched on the original PlayStation (not counting Metal Gear on the NES). Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has become the best selling game in the long running series, beating its nearest rival Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty by a good 37%. What’s surprising however is just how many sales are contributed by PS4 owners, as a meaty 72% of its The Phantom Pain’s sales were on the PS4 and just 22% from Xbox One. Out of interest 3% of sales came from PS3 and 2% on Xbox 360 (PC sales figures are not available at this time).
Though despite the big sale numbers, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is still behind Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in terms of sales during the opening week for this year, but it will be interesting to see which game sells best by the end of 2015.
While our review of The Phantom Pain will be coming later then the big boy gaming websites (due to obtaining a copy on release day), you can expect our review to sneak its way on to Push-Start within the next couple of weeks.
